ŌSUGI SAKAE

(1885–1923)


A prominent anarchist in Japan. Founded the journal Kindai shisō (Modern Thought) with Arahata Kanson in 1912 that helped to revive the radical movement in the wake of the government repression following the 1911 "Great Treason Incident." Was murdered by the military police following the Great Kanto Earthquake of 1923.
