I was arrested with all my family on the orders of the Captain-General, who had nevertheless given his word of honor and who'd promised me the protection of the French government. I dare to ask of it justice and benevolence. If I made any mistakes I alone should suffer the penalty. I ask you, Citizen Minister, to take up for myself and my family with the First Consul.
