The RED WOMEN’S DETACHMENT is comprised primarily of welfare mothers on the Lower East Side of NYC. They are developing a revolutionary line of struggle for a mass anti-imperialist Women’s movement, as part of a United Front Against Fascism, under the proletarian leadership of the Communist Party U.S.A. (Marxist-Leninist). They are developing a program around the issues of: (1) equal pay for equal work, (2) immediate restoration of all funds slashed from the welfare budget, (3) abolition of the discriminatory status of “illegitimacy” as a social stigma imposed upon children, (4) tuition free open admissions for all welfare mothers to trade schools, colleges, and other educational institutions, (5) adequate day care facilities, (6) large-scale socialized domestic services, (7) opposition to federally sponsored birth control programs and abortion law repeal, (8) immediate release of all women imprisoned on prostitution charges, (9) workingwomen’s solidarity with working class men conscripted by the draft, (10) the formation of Workingwomen’s Armed Defense Groups,(11) a Workingwomen’s International and recognition of March 8 as International Workingwomen’s Day, (12) building the United Front Against Imperialism and opposing the “bourgeois ideology of women’s liberation which denies the basic contradiction of class struggle and fosters female chauvinism”.
